We love our neighborhood for its rich history of diversity. Nearly 80 years ago, Yesler Terrace was developed with the nation’s first racially integrated, publicly subsidized housing. Now, the area has been reimagined with more mixed-income communities, parks, public art, and recreation, while still retaining a vibrant cultural uniqueness.
Yesler is one of the few neighborhoods in Seattle where you can walk down a street and hear a dozen different languages, or wander a few blocks away to ethnic eateries in Little Saigon and the International District that have been around for years. We want to keep it that way. From our very name to our design approach to our support of local artists and community, Batik embraces Yesler’s multicultural identity while looking forward to the future. A home in harmony that’s welcoming to all.
